In Holidays with your dog here in Spain

Are you going on holiday to Spain and would you rather take your dog with you than leave him at home? Then it is important that you study the entry requirements that apply. Of course, it is also important to take into account the high temperatures in Spain during the summer months, which can cause problems for your dog. In addition, in this blog article we will tell you more about what exactly you need to take into account.

What are the entry requirements?
Do not take your dog to Spain without checking if it is allowed. When you don't do this, you run the risk of being sent back to the Netherlands. For taking a dog to Spain the following rules apply which have been drawn up by the European Union:
- You must have an EU pet passport;
- The dog has to be at least 12 weeks old;
- The dog must have the necessary vaccinations for at least 21 days;
- The dog must have a microchip or a readable tattoo from before July 2011.
Pedigree dogs
It is wise to check if your dog falls under the 'dangerous breeds'. The rules for bringing these dangerous breeds are different in each municipality and autonomous community. Also, in several regions it is compulsory for these dangerous breeds to wear muzzles. Check this carefully before you leave for Spain.
